Lorna Watkins
Lorna Watkins lives and works in North Sligo having graduated in Textile Design at NCAD after studying at the Grennan Mill Craft School and Edinburgh College of Art. Her practice includes painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles and collaborations with communities and other artists.
She was selected for the 188th, 191st and 192nd Annual Exhibition at the RHA, Dublin. Her paintings and drawings have been shown in invited group exhibitions in London, Irish Embassies in Berlin and New York. In 2020, she was selected to show at the Zhou B Art Center, Chicago in Threads of Truth, curated by Sergio Gomez.
Residencies have become an important part of her practice. She was awarded a Fellowship by the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in 2019 and has been awarded several residencies at Cill Rialaig. In 2020, was awarded a residency at JOYA:AiR in Almeira, Spain.
During lockdown, she joined the online contemporary drawing group, Drawing Box International. Since, her drawings have been shown in the US, Cyprus, Greece, France and India.
Her work is in private and public collections in Ireland, France, Spain and US.
