Originally from Roscommon, Leonora graduated from The University of Ulster in Belfast with an honours degree in Visual Communication, one year of which was spent studying in the Instituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche in Urbino, Italy. After many years working in the area of illustration, Leonora chose to focus more on fine art. She has participated in many group shows and has held four solo shows since 2007; The Cat and the Moon Gallery (in 2007, 2008, 2009), and The Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar (2010). Her work has been selected for The Royal Hibernian Academy's annual exhibition in 2010 and 2011.
Based in north county Sligo, Leonora's work is mostly landscape-based, and deeply saturated in her surrounding environs of dense woodlands and gentle coastline. Striving to combine a sense of the physical geography of these surroundings with a deeper sense of their mood and atmosphere, the work is notably evocative and ethereal. According to the artist, 'my work persues the suggestion of separate realms that exist alongside us, often at the periphery of our awareness'
