Sligo Jazz Project welcomes Derry jazz legend Gay McIntyre back this Friday as special guest of The Odd Couple at Tobergal Lane Café's final Christmas Party night.
Gay McIntyre has been a major figure on the Irish jazz scene for about five decades. Now in his mid seventies, Gay still plays alto saxophone, clarinet and flute with youthful exuberance, his playing always a joy to the ears.
The Odd Couple are Sligo's hardest working jazz trio, specialising in jazzy arrangements of pop tunes and TV Themes. Pianist Kieran Quinn is joined by Eddie Lee on Double bass and Ken McDonald on drums, combining original arrangements of pop classics such as "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Norwegian Wood", "Rehab", "Thriller" and "Hey Ya" with clever versions of themes from "The A-Team", "Hill Street Blues" and "The Odd Couple" guaranteed to put smiles on faces.
The Odd Couple with special guest Gay McIntyre perform in Tobergal Lane Café on Friday next December 18, 11pm. Admission is free!
