Bealtaine Festival 2023 - Sligo events listing

To celebrate 20 years of participation in the Bealtaine Festival and The Man in the Woman's Shoes enduring appeal, local actor Mikel Murfi was commissioned by the Sligo County Council Arts Office to mark the show’s longevity.

Written by and starring Mikel Murfi, the performance has been described as “a love letter to Sligo” and has toured extensively.

This exhibition is a collection of paintings inspired by Keith’s local landscape.

Looking to the environment and being more mindful around the promotional material generated for our festival.  This year the Sligo Bealtaine Festival will not be printing programmes but rather looking to a greener and eco way of highlighting the festival.  Using source materials from the gardens at Nazareth, Village residents worked with artist Daniel Guest of Pulled Print Studios to create imagery for this year’s 20th anniversary Bealtaine Festival Sligo 2023.

Dovecote Studios

May Thursday 4th 10.30am – 1pm

Dovecote Studios, Tully Clogherevagh Co. Sligo F91W2T9.  Participant numbers 8 (age 50+) FREE Open to professional and beginners, materials provided.  Walk with artist Tessa Marsden in the fields that surround Dovecote Studios.  Be inspired by nature, collect wild flowers, grasses and shrubs.  These source materials will become the starting point for Tessa's mixed media painting workshop.  Booking required, contact Catherine 086 842 4969.

Active Age & Community Art Group Exhibition

The Nest, Custom House Quay, Sligo

Benwiskin, Rosses Point and Brain Injury art groups join together to bring you a mixed media art exhibition. Under the artistic guidance and direction of msletb artist and facilitator Aideen Connolly the exhibition of artwork was created during weekly art workshops. These weekly sessions were funded and run by Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board. The Bealtaine Festival Sligo is delighted to able to showcase this work during our 20th festival year.

Open to view Primary Care Unit, Markievicz House, Sligo The exhibition is inspired by the Stephen’s local river, the Unshin near Riverstown, Co. Sligo. A minor river most people only really get to briefly see from one of its bridges.
