Sligo County Libraries Writer in Residence 2021 – 2022 as part of the Sligo Decade of Centenaries Programme

Sligo County Libraries seek applications for a Writer in Residence to oversee a programme of literary events and online creative workshops for two years beginning in 2021. The Writer in residence will engage with various communities to reflect upon the Decade of Centenaries in terms of reconciliation, social change, the lives of individuals involved and the legacies from the Decade of Centenaries. Also, the residency will examine how if any the history of the Decade of Centenaries informs current generations in lending a sense of who we are as a people and a Nation.

Likewise, the residency will also explore through creative writing the view of the new communities in Ireland and their sense of nationhood.

The Writer in Residence will oversee the editing, design and production of a publication to reflect the best of writing from the residency across the generations.

The residency will be for a period of two years commencing in 2021, in order to allow for the necessary engagement with communities throughout County Sligo in 2021 and to fulfil the brief as outlined.

Please send your application in the form of a Curriculum Vitae along with a brief proposal (500 words max.) of your vision for the Writer-in-Residence project by Fri 30th July 2021 for the attention of County Librarian Donal Tinney by email only to creativeireland@sligococo.ie.
