Bealtaine Festival Nationwide Gatherings

Bealtaine depends on the thousands of events run by our partner organisations, arts offices and libraries around the country and we very much hope you might be free and interested to come to one of our Bealtaine Gathering meetings this Autumn and if you can, help us spread the word!

For those of you who participated in the festival in 2017 when we celebrated the theme of collective, people power, protest and empathy, we would like to say a big THANK YOU!  Congratulate yourself as this year’s festival was our biggest Bealtaine ever, with over 500 national partners, thousands of national festival events, and more than twenty strategic projects. In 2017, the festival took place in Antrim, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Laois, Leitrim, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath, Wexford, Wicklow and comprised of a mixture of residencies, commissions, professional training initiatives, strategic projects, touring, performances, workshops, readings, seminars, debates and screenings across the visual arts, literature, music, theatre, and film.

We are now gearing up towards another exciting festival in 2018 and we would like to get the ball rolling by extending an invite to all our partners, colleagues and friends to meet with us in centres around the country.  To this end, we are organising seven meetings nationwide in Wexford, Limerick, Sligo, Dublin City, South County Dublin, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown and Fingal.  The purpose of these events is to meet with our fellow partners, to hear about their ideas for 2018, to help people meet each other, network and coordinate, and to hear about the challenges and needs of attendees and organisers.  It is also an opportunity to hear about local Bealtaine projects and for us to let everyone know about the Bealtaine theme and our plans for 2018.  One of the key overall outcomes of the meeting is to hear how we can better work together to improve the range of events that are organised locally.

The Age & Opportunity Arts and Culture team will be at these meetings as will the local Arts Officer and where possible our Bealtaine Curators for 2018, Broken Talkers, Performing Arts Curators and Linda Shevlin, Visual Arts Curator.

Attendance is FREE and open to all.
