Astray, short film celebrating Sligo today

Astray is a short film celebrating the unique natural and cultural energy of Sligo today.

Devised and directed by Johnny Gogan, Astray was filmed in Sligo and features Cillian Rogers, Ciaran McCauley and Kellie Hughes as well as the music of No Crows as the film's soundtrack.

Astray borrows from the Sweeney myth as translated by Séamus Heaney in Sweeney Astray. Sweeney takes flight through the stunning Sligo landscape. Characters from the story drive the contemporary narrative with Sligo’s distinctive cultural locations as a backdrop.

Commissioned by Sligo County Council and funded by the DECLG Per Cent for Art Scheme.
