New Writers’ Festival Launches in The West!

The creative team behind wordlegs.com are organising their first writers' festival which will take place next month. The weekend event, called 'Shore Writers' Festival' will run from November 2nd - 4th in the Ocean Sands Hotel, Enniscrone with all activities and workshops offered for FREE.

The festival, like wordlegs.com, is a platform for talented Irish writers. It is a unique event for writers of all ages and experience and even with 'no budget or funding, the team have managed to put together a full programme featuring both new and established writers', says Elizabeth Reapy, Festival Director. Over the weekend, there will be open mic sessions, panel discussions, performance poetry, music by singer songwriters, a dj set, selected readings, literary workshops and much more. The Saturday night will also see the exciting launch of wordlegs' first book in association with Doire Press '30 under 30' in print form.

The festival is a new initiative based on a model of 'skill exchange, group creativity and community spirit. It will be interesting to see what ideas we have and how we can execute them as a network of writers and artists,' comments Reapy. ‘The atmospheric Atlantic setting in Enniscrone is sure to inspire many of the participants too.’

Reapy, who has had an energetic year on the literary scene, both here and overseas, has been asked to report on the event’s success by her Australian counterparts. Recently she performed at the National Young Writers' Festival inAustraliaand was also the Irish writer-in-residence in Varuna Writers' House outsideSydney.
