Culture Night Sligo – Friday September 21st 2012

Culture Night 2012

Culture Night Sligo is back and the programme is a colourful and cultural celebration that will take place on the evening of Friday 21st September. The Hawk’s Well Theatre, The Factory Performance Space and The Model welcome you to an evening of free, family-friendly creative events so mark the date in your diary and be sure to come along.

Over 20 events, all free-of-charge, will take place at Sligo’s leading arts venues; The Hawk’s Well Theatre, The Model and The Factory.  Running from early evening until very late, there will be something for everyone, young and old alike.

The Hawk’s Well Theatre has a night of great music in store, showcasing the breadth and diversity of Sligo’s musical talent.  Presented by Sligo’s own Tabby Callaghan, acts will include The Candles, Ruby Ridge, The Corrupt, Grizzly Dippers and This Side Up.

The Model will open its doors on the night with a wonderful line up of exhibitions, music, film screenings and open studios.  The Model Cinema will host an evening of fun family films including perennial favourites The Gruffalo and Toy Story; kids are invited to dress up as a character from their favourite film on the night.  Later on The Model will also host an evening of musical performances curated by John Lambert aka Chequerboard.

The Blue Raincoat Theatre Company will host a number of workshops and tours at The Factory including a sculpture workshop with Bettina Seitz a samba workshop with master drummer Peter Crann and the ever-popular ceramic artist Lynda Gault will give a demonstration of her creative craft.

The Culture Night Sligo programme is now available from participating venues around Sligo. Full information on all events can be found on the Culture Night Sligo Facebook page.

Culture Night Sligo is co-ordinated by The Hawk’s Well Theatre on behalf of Culture Night Sligo partner venues The Hawk’s Well, The Model and Blue Raincoat Theatre Company and supported by Sligo County Council, Sligo Borough Council, the Department of Arts Heritage and the Gaeltacht in partnership with the national co-ordinator Temple Bar Cultural Trust.
