Studio North West tv September Playlist now live

 

The latest edition (no. 4) of Studio North West tv (SNWtv) is up on the website www.studionothwest.tv and includes features on forthcoming festivals and more work from the members of the Studio North West Forum.

Studio North West tv features the work of filmmakers side by side with coverage of current events in the region.
 

The Sligo Festival of Baroque Music takes place at The Model Arts, Sligo 28-30th September. Sligeach Films profile of last year's event captures the unique atmposphere of the festival

 

To mark the onset of the second Leitrim-wide Green Door/Inspirational Homes Festival 14-16 September we commence a series featuring inspirational architect Peter Cowman, recorded in 2005 and produced by Bandit Films and Living Architecture Centre.

 

Croghaun-Megalithic Sligo: We are coming towards the end of Padraig Meehan's Uplands series as the Leitrim-based musician and archaeologist scales the heights ofSligo's Croghaun Hill to a site that shows signs of earlier mesolithic burial. The Chalk Up (2003) was the debut short for director/writer Frank and Jo Conway, made for the Irish Film Board's Short Shorts initiative. Leitrim-based writer-director and actor Marian Quinn (32A) features alongside Aisling O'Sullivan (The Butcher Boy, The Clinic, Raw).

 

What Am I Doing Here? is a documentary profile of Leitrim-based writer and actor Donal O'Kelly. The film's director/producer Trish McAdam has given clearance for screening of the full film on SNWtv in our next edition. In the meantime, enjoy an extract from the film which features Donal's celebrated play about the whaling vessel Catalpa and its role in a great Fenian escape.

 

Sarah Crummy: You wouldn't think it to see her perform, but the Sligo singer-songwriter has just completed her Leaving Cert. Sarah has just recorded the title song for Bandit Films' feature Black Ice, due for release in early 2013. In this off-the-cuff performance she sings, films and plays the piano on one of her own numbers Jaded.

 

Seeing The Hidden We hold Caroline Clancy and Catherine Fannin's series of profiles highlighting the heritage of ruralCountySligo.

 

Cranmore: TheSligo suburb of Cranmore is still in the throes of regeneration. Patrick O'Rourke of Sleeping Warrior Films profiled the commencement of the project in 2009 with a little help from local hero and X Factor star Tabby Callaghan.

In addition to Trish McAdam's one-hour documentary on Donal O'Kelly, SNWtv commences a Filmmaker In Focus series, kicking off with filmmaker and visual artist Roisin Loughrey.
