Come “Lazin’ on a Sunny Afternoon” in aid of North West Hospice
Four local bands have come together to stage an exciting and novel “afternoon into evening” music fundraiser in aid of the North West Hospice on Saturday July 7th from 4.30 pm – 8pm at The Factory Performance Space on The Quay, Sligo
The event, with Damien Brennan as MC, will open with the fabulous Note-Orious 4 – the Strandhill a-capella act with attitude! New Sligo/Leitrim band BackWater Jack will launch their motown and other classic song catalogue, featuring the powerful vocal harmonies of Maev Gallagher, Aileen Masterson and Jane Tansey backed by Nick Dimes, John Ryan and Paul Wilson. These will be interspersed with musical musings from the indefatigable BuzzAldrin’s, who deliver a potent set of originals composed by David Lawlor, Malcolm Hamilton and John O’Dea. Add into that a set from The Alchemists, Joe Hunt’s latest combo of elite musical mercenaries including Gerry Sweeny and Christy Kivlehan, and you’ve got a head-turning, ear-teasing, eclectic compendium of classic hits and originals to while away a summer Saturday evening.
There’s a €10 entrance donation (children free). Refreshments will be available. All proceeds go to the North West Hospice.
The event will also see the presentation to the Hospice of a beautiful large hand-embroidered celebratory patchwork quilt, made by members of the public over the course of last November’s inaugural Northwest Craft Festival.
It will be open house at The Factory from 4.30pm on 7 July, so why not come Lazin’ on a Sunny Afternoon with the whole family after your Saturday ramble in town, and take in some of the great live music on offer.
The event organisers would like to express their gratitude to The Factory and Blue Raincoat Theatre Company for providing the venue and technical support, and to our other sponsors for refreshments, poster design and printing.
