An exhibition by Kenneth King opens Saturday 9 June @ 4pm at '...with love from Rosses Point' Art Gallery. This show includes some wonderful pictures of particular interest to Sligofolk. Among 30 paintings of coastal seascapes, Irish lights and shipping, there is an image of the SS Sligo, the anchor of which is on display at the entrance of the village. Many Sligo seamen served their time aboard some of the featured vessels, and the exhibition is a wonderful celebration of maritime history and traditions of the area.
The opening will be by Willie Murphy, Sligo Bay RNLI Station Operations Manager, and a percentage of commission will be donated to the RNLI in support of the forthcoming Sea Shanty Festival in Rosses Point 15, 16, 17 June
