Sligo Arts Service is delighted to announce their artists and concert programme for Music in Drumcliffe 2012 which will take place from 5th May to 7th May, 2012.  As festival ensemble-in-residence, The Vogler Quartet, will perform alongside Michael McHale, piano (Ireland), Malwina Sosnowski, violin (Switzerland), Jonathan Cohen, harpsichord (United Kingdom), Moran Katz, clarinet (USA), Friedemann Rieger, piano (Germany), Nicolas Altstaedt, cello (Germany), Brian O’Kane, cello (Ireland) and Doriana Tchakarova, piano (Bulgaria). Repertoire will include works by Schumann, Dutilleux, Dvoƙák, Gershwin, Schubert, Szymanowski, Field, Vivaldi, Mozart, Rachmaninov, Bach, Debussy and Brahms.

Since its establishment in 2000, Music in Drumcliffe has become one of Ireland’s leading international chamber music festivals, offering audiences the opportunity to experience high standards of programming through a fresh choice of artists all performing alongside the internationally acclaimed Vogler Quartet, in one of the most beautiful locations in Ireland, at the foot of Benbulben mountain and in the heart of Yeats Country.

This year the festival will introduce a number of new events to its programme. Open Rehearsals with The Vogler Quartet and Guests on Saturday between 10.30am and 1.30pm, a Bow Making Lecture and Demonstration with internationally renowned Noel Burke on the Saturday afternoon, a New Music Literary Trail in partnership with the Contemporary Music Centre, daily, around the environs of Drumcliffe, together with a Walk and Talk lecture of each listening post with composer Benjamin Dwyer and a Late Night Festival Club with festival guest artists in The Elsinore, Yeats Country Hotel, Rosses Point on Saturday May 5th at 10pm.

Music lovers can look forward to yet another cultural packed bank holiday weekend of inspiring music in the friendly, intimate and evocative setting of Drumcliffe, Co Sligo.

Tickets for the Music in Drumcliffe range from €12 to €25.
