Wanted 7 Brides for 7 Brothers

7 Brides for 7 Brothers

This is a show you won’t want to miss! One of the world’s best loved musicals comes to The Mercy College Gym from Tuesday 15th to Friday 18th of November at 8.00pm.  The Mercy College once again join forces with Summerhill College and brings the best of Sligo’s talented youth to the stage.

Director Fintan Whelan and Musical Director Noreen McIntyre have been planning this musical ever since their hugely successful collaboration on Grease in early 2010.  The audition process began before the summer holidays and the dynamic duo hit the ground running in early September.  Months of work from a dedicated team from both schools sees the production finally get to where it belongs, in front of capacity audiences who have come to expect the best from Sligo’s premier schools.

Set in the 1850s, the story tells of seven eager brides and their mountain Romeos.  Milly instantly falls for Adam Pontipee’s sweet talk about his life on the farm. However, he doesn’t mention that he lives with six brothers who seem content to live like their barnyard animals!  Milly doesn’t look for a divorce lawyer but rolls up her sleeves and gets on with the task at hand, cleaning, cooking and teaching manners and romance to the fighting Pontipee Brothers, along with some dancing to impress the local girls!

The cast for this show include Killian Filan as Adam and Lauren Sweeney as Milly.  Others in the cast are Aisling Fitzsimons, Sean Geraghty, Leigh Anne Waters, Jamie Gillen, Sarah Loftus, Conor Cunningham, Shauna McManus, Aaron Mulligan, Hannah Kielty, Kevin Martyn, Niamh O’Donnell and Rory Dillon.  There are several supporting cast members and a very talented and energetic chorus.

The singalong songs are great, the dancing is dazzling and the whole family will enjoy going back to a simpler time and are sure to leave happy and humming the unforgettable songs from the show.

Tickets are on sale on the door or in advance through the Mercy College 086-023 1252 and are €10 and €8 for concessions.
