Celebrity Bodhránathon for Ceoláras Coleman, Gurteen

A new and exciting celebrity event is about to be unveiled, the reverberations will be heard all over County Sligo and beyond. Vote for your local celebrity!

Over recent years, many ‘celebrity’ events have been organised and successful fund raising campaigns held using a variety of titles. But a new and exciting celebrity event is about to be unveiled, the reverberations will be heard all over County Sligo and beyond. The celebrities are going to take part in a ‘Bodhránathon’ to raise funds for Ceoláras Coleman, Gurteen, Co. Sligo. It has become necessary for the board of the Coleman Heritage Centre to embark on fundraising activities as the Centre has suffered substantial cutbacks.

The challenge for the participants, who have never played the bodhrán, is to do a three minute exhibition of bodhrán playing on Sunday night, October 9th in Gurteen Parochial Hall. International Bodhrán maestro, Junior Davey, will be providing a crash course for the participants commencing on September 5th. These include

The ‘showdown’ night will be compered by Colm O’Donnell who will be joined by a number of traditional musicians. A great night’s entertainment is assured culminating with the presentation to the winners.
