Sligo is the land that inspired the Nobel laureate, dramatist and Ireland’s most famous poet William Butler Yeats (1865 - 1939) and it’s easy to see why he wrote about it as eloquently as his younger brother Jack Butler Yeats (1871 - 1957) painted it.
