Plans are well underway for Culture Night 2026 in Sligo. Following an open call in April, we are delighted to announce that this year there will be 27 events, including 3 Flagship Events, 6 Featured Events & 17 Culture Wide events.
Coupled with this, Binder Arts in Sligo have been awarded one of the national Culture Night awards for their site-specific event “Minor Disturbance” at ATU Sligo.
Queen Maeve Square in Sligo will also be animated by “The Sleeping Giant” – artist Tom Meskell will present his light art sculpture for one night only for a special Culture Night Late event. The Sleeping Giant is a large-scale lantern project environmental awareness project. Through a Creative Ireland funded project, communities across Sligo county will also create accompanying illuminated sculptures celebrating the night sky, using sustainable methods which will transform the Square.
Culture Night Sligo is funded by Sligo County Council & The Arts Council of Ireland.
Culture Night Late is funded by the Department of Culture, Communications & Sport in support of the Night-time Economy Pilot initiative, delivered in partnership by Sligo BID & Sligo County Council.
