The Yeatsian Legacy Project 2009 - 2010 was delievered by Sligo Arts Service and partners. The Project was supported by the Peace III Programme, managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by Sligo County County on behalf of Sligo Peace and Reconcilation Partnership Committee.
The Action Plan for Pace and Reconciliation in County Sligo has been developed to provide a strategic framework for decision making on the implementation of Theme I.I of the Peace III Programme 'Building Positive Relationships at the Local Level'. The core objective of this strand of the Programme is to challenge attitudes towards sectarianism and racism and to support conflict resolution and mediation at the local community level.
The purpose of the Yeatian Legacy programme is to promote an understanding of cultural heritage and the sharing of experiences and expressions of different cultures by exploring the Yeatsian legacy and its impact on the identity of the country and region.
The Project explored the work of the Yeats brothers and the legacy of the past through a series of workshops, talks, readings, exhibitions and events with partners Sligo County Council Arts Service, The Model, Institute of Technology Sligo and Omagh District Council.
